Supermarine Southampton

Another instalment of delicious food photos! This has to be one of our favourite things to photograph and when a new restaurant opens it’s a blank slate for us to make the brand what it is and wants to be. Pizza and Pasta in all it’s glory this time round! Unfortunately the restaurant closed soon after we photographed the images, so sadly they never really got to see the light of day.
Paying homage to the history in Southampton, Supermarine was opened as a wood fired pizza and fresh Italian pasta restaurant. A fresh white and blue interior was a great palette for adding a pop of colour in the food.
The Brief:
The client wanted a fresh and clean look to the imagery to match the branding, with a focus on the food and the white and blue colour palette. The images were to be used over the website and social media prior to the closing.
The Process:
We took a morning to shoot with the client, making bestseller items on the menu to start with. A good coverage of the food getting through as many dishes as we could in the time. Setting up the placement to make it look appealing to customers as if they were there themselves. Close up’s of the food is always a great way to show off the dishes and pair that with some ‘diner POV’ style images, you’ve got a recipe for success.
The Outcome:
Once again natural lighting came through and we were able to shoot the whole campaign without the assistance of artificial lighting, giving a lifestyle feel to the images. Unfortunately, some were use on social media but the pages were taken down when the business closed, we were so sad to see it go! However, still a great project for us to show our style off now….
