How To Manage Your Social When You’re Feeling Uninspired
As an entrepreneur you are undoubtedly creative by nature, and producing things that bring people joy or functionality is high up on your list. But sometimes producing content that shows the aesthetic of your brand and brings inspiration to your followers can be hard when you’re having a little inspo-crisis yourself.
So how can we get over this slump and back into the creative spirit? There are many ways people try - meditation, inspiration, exercise and more but the way we really get the secret is to look at our customers and what they want and need.
1) Know your customer
It’s easy to think we can just ‘post whatever’ and the crowd will follow, but in most circumstances just being a good product doesn’t work. However much we tell someone to buy something they won’t invest unless they feel a need, a whole in their life that this product would fill. So how do we do this?
First you need to research your customer. Who are they? What do they do for a living? What does their home space look like? Do they have kids and therefore less disposable income/time to spend on themselves?
You can download the Digital Styling Customer Workbook here for FREE to help you map out your social footprint based on your customer.
This will give you huge insight into what to post, as you’ll know exactly WHO you’re posting to and what they most likely want to see.
2) Look at the social media trends
You can always gain insight into the most recent trends by guess what …. scrolling through social! (or your kids telling you what the latest cat video entailed). But if that’s not your thing then there are more ways to find out what’s happening in the digital world.
Take a look at twitter and find the new trending hashtags in the explore page. They may seem insignificant to you and your brand but think of the ways you could pair them up. Is #coronavirus trending? Share hints and tips on how to keep wellness/cooking/styling/beauty going whilst in lockdown.
Another recent trend is #stongerasone originated from eBay as a way to show all types of businesses and how they help and contribute to one another. Use this to collaborate with other businesses in complimenting fields or link with influencers to show your addition to peoples lives and the business world.
3) What content are you consuming?
As well as a business owner you are also a consumer, so however you are feeling plus the media you want to consume is most likely the same thing other people want to see as well (unless your into some really freaky stuff in that case leave that bit ….).
If you’re looking more towards drama than reality TV, use it and think of ways you can incorporate that fantasy side of things. If you’re looking for information and advise, use that and give people ways to ‘feed’ themselves from your content. If you’re enjoying influencers, share some things from ones you love in the mentality that your followers will love them too.
In summary
The world of social media is exactly that - SOCIAL. Being uninspired can be difficult but it can be an opportunity to find new ways of reconnecting with your customer and gaining new avenues of speaking to them on a personal level.
If you’re really stuck, you can always look at the Social Media Prompts and the Social Media Hashtags we provide for each month to find a little nudge of inspo. You can always chat to other members too in our Members only Facebook group! Ask them what they’re posting, what they find works and what new content they created recently that caused a buzz!
Happy Creating!!
